I am very pleased to have joined the team at Education Datalab as Partnerships and Communications Officer. As well as assisting the research team with the smooth running of our projects, I will be focused on disseminating our research findings and associated policy recommendations to wider audiences in the education field.

As well as policy makers, we hope that leadership teams and teachers at schools can benefit from our cutting-edge research, and our recommendations on improving practice. With our research ranging from the teacher labour market, to the implications of new KS2 testing and EBacc curriculum choices, there is something for everyone in the analysis we do.

At our launch in 2015 we outlined how we would work with schools to learn how policies are implemented at the chalk-face. In forthcoming months I plan to develop our engagement with teachers and management to enable the teaching workforce to distil and translate our quantitative analysis into real improvements to the working practice in the classroom.

Education Datalab’s more over-arching policy recommendations are valuable and important, but long-term change takes time.

Our ability to produce fast, incisive analysis of topical ‘hot potatoes’ on education matters is something we wish to exploit in partnership with teachers – helping equip them with ever more contextual insight into their daily practice; delivering our quantitative analysis as regular and timely addition to their workday toolkit.
